Alfred Hitchcock Revival Series @ the Charles

That’s right. Hitchcock on the big screen. Turns out I’ll miss a bunch of ‘em, but I’ll catch Psycho, The Birds, Marnie, Frenzy, and my personal favorite, To Catch A Thief. The schedule.
Also, what’s with this bullshit:
Ticket books are $70 each and include 10 tickets which must be exchanged at the box office for regular feature tickets.
The evening tickets are $8 and the matinees are $6. That means that if you use a coupon from the ticket book for a matinee you’re actually paying a dollar MORE per ticket for the privilege of possessing the book.
(Just to be clear, I love the Charles and do not think it is overpriced, just occasionally dumb.)
An entry from last year’s Red Bull Hike&Ride.
A view of one of Outstanding in the Field’s events in LA.
They’ve got a decent rep:
This is the restaurant I always imagined!
Alice Waters, Chez Panisse
LA Confidential
I just finished watching LA Confidential a couple minutes ago. What can I say, I had forgotten about this movie entirely. (Maybe it has to do with the fact that I was 11 when it was released?)
The script is excellent, with action but not gratuitous violence, and a complex, intelligent storyline. Definitely one of the best I’ve seen this year…and it was released a decade ago.
I suggest you Netflix it or catch it the next time it comes around on Encore.

I always had a thing for these sorts of covers: Taking a complicated electronic concoction and breaking it down to the acoustic and vocals. Jose Gonzalez’s cover of “Heartbeats” by The Knife is another example. Oh and that second video link is just the song played over a video that is crazy in it’s own right.
Ray LaMontagne- Crazy
Ray covers Gnarles Barkley…and kills it.
my rhapsody top 5 most played this week
- 1. Stars
- 2. Matt Pond PA
- 3. Vampire Weekend
- 4. Arcade Fire
- 5. Philip Glass
- Stars leapfrogs to the top spot, while Matt Pond slips to #2 and The Decemberists fade into personal obscurity once again. Vampire Weekend surging to #3 on a lemming mentality with old standby Arcade Fire coming in at #4. Finally, at #5, it's Philip Glass. Don't ask me why...I don't know.
